We would typically recommend Smart Ass! Smart Ass is a great option for espresso and produces a smooth finish with a perfect crema. The beans are also less oily, and your super automatic espresso machine will be compatible.
Although our dark roasts are super delish, they will have more oil on the surface of the bean. This is because they have been through a “second crack”, which is a stage further along in the roasting process. During this stage, oil within the bean is brought to the surface due to the bean being exposed to heat for longer periods of time (compared to some light or medium roasts). You can actually hear the beans pop a little bit when this happens. Pretty cool, eh?
